Community Involvement
The attorneys at Samson, Pipis & Marsh believe in giving back to the community. In 2009,the
firm was recognized by the Boulder County Bar Association as one of four firms in Boulder
County in which all attorneys in the firm had taken on pro bono cases.

Rick, Rich, and Cyril all volunteered their time to mentor mock trial teams in Greg Taffel’s
eighth grade class at Westview Middle School in Longmont. In addition, Cyril mentored Steve
McNichols’ “We the People” team at Silver Creek High School in Longmont, Colorado, that qualified
for the state tournament for the first time in its history.

In late 2008, Rick Samson, along with several other area business owners, formed Longmont
Investing For Tomorrow (LIFT). Scott Oliver acted as associate counsel. LIFT is a non-partisan
pro-business organization formed to advocate for policies, conditions and leadership that create and
support a healthy economic environment as a recognized foundation of a quality community. LIFT
sponsored an economic summit in conjunction with the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce in
April, 2009 and partially as a result of LIFT’s activities, four candidates for City Council were elected
that share LIFT’s core beliefs.
